Diversity

Diversity Statement

Engineers for a Sustainable World at Cornell fully supports the Black Lives Matter movement. As an organization, we strive to prioritize all facets of diversity, including but not limited to race, gender, and abilities. We will continue to ensure that our interview process allows for the selection of diverse individuals, all of whom can bring their experiences to ESW Cornell for the better. It is also important that we address the relationship between sustainability issues and systemic oppression. These issues are historically linked, and today, many American cities with deep underlying sustainability concerns (e.g. close proximity to toxic chemical plants) have disproportionately large numbers of people of color. Moving forward, ESW Cornell is looking towards a project to help address these concerns; more information about such a project will be added here as the project progresses.
